Bear Clan Patrol is a community-based solution to crime prevention, providing a sense of safety, solidarity and belonging to both our members and to the communities we serve. This is achieved by community people working with the community in a non-violent, non-threatening, non-judgmental and supportive manner primarily through relationship building and reconciliation. The Bear Clan draws its direction from traditional Indigenous philosophies and practices.
We have an established twelve member Council that has been meeting since December 2014. The council includes three Elders from the original Bear Clan Patrol. The council formed in response to the expressed needs of the community for a safer, more secure environment.
The goals of the Patrol can be stated as being the restoration and maintenance of harmony within the community by promoting and providing safety, conflict resolution, mobile witnessing and crime prevention, maintaining a visible presence on the streets, providing an early response to situations, as well as providing rides, escorts and referrals. The Bear Clan does not arrest people, it does not go into people's homes unless invited, or otherwise take action that is more appropriately the responsibility of the police.
The Patrol operates out of the Bear Clan Den, located at 584 Selkirk Ave in Winnipeg's North End and is a registered charity. It was first formed in Winnipeg's North End in 1992.
Volunteer with with the Bear Clan Patrol by emailing contact@bearclanpatrol.org, visit the Facebook page for more information or support the cause by donating HERE.

Elmwood Community Resource Centre, Watt Street, Winnipeg, MB, Canada
Elmwood Community Resource Centre presents : “Still I Rise: Scaling Gender Based Violence (GBV)
….support for South East Asian, South Asian, Black and Arab women in Manitoba.
Women at risk of GBV has increased by migration status, socio-economic status, sexual-orientation and religion. Manitoba has some of the highest rates of gender-based violence (Status of Women, 2020).
76% of 960 prairie individuals reporting intimate partner violence were Black and south Asian.
Still I Rise: Scaling Up GBV Support for South Asian, Black and Arab Women builds on successful strategies developed and used by Elmwood Community Resource Centre over 10+ years of supporting survivors of Gender Based Violence and their families. It will address the lack of awareness about the local legal system and structural barriers that prevent racialized women from accessing GBV services. This project aims to improve the GBV sector at all levels through knowledge mobilization and sharing of best practices.

The Canadian Human Trafficking Hotline is a confidential, multilingual service, operating 24/7 to connect victims and survivors with social services, law enforcement, and emergency services, as well as receive tips from the public.
Sex trafficking is a complex issue that often goes unnoticed by many Canadians, who may believe it only occurs in other countries to individuals they don’t know. However, the reality is that human trafficking is a widespread problem that touches every community in Canada, potentially affecting anyone, including your loved ones. This document has been developed through extensive consultation with survivors of sex-trafficking and aims to provide information and guidance, particularly for concerned family and friends as they constitute a significant portion of those reaching out to the Canadian Human Trafficking Hotline. Many within this group may not know how to respond if they suspect a loved one is being trafficked or is at risk of exploitation.
If you suspect that you or someone you know may be exploited, if you want to access support, or if you want to learn more, call 1-833-900-1010 or reach out via chat @
