It’s time to say goodbye to Winnipeg’s TROPICS!
A Hundred years of history comes to an end this week to make way for the multi-million dollar Diversity Gardens, pictured above. The lush and beautiful Conservatory at Assiniboine Park is being demolished and it’s open house week to say our goodbyes. When tear down begins, a commitment has been made to recycle 80% of materials but what about the plants?
TREES too big to move will end up in the hands of woodworkers to create utensils, bowls or artifacts as mementoes while smaller plants could go to the indoor exhibit, Toucan Ridge in the ZOO. Some plants will be replanted in the new Diversity Gardens.
So this week Couples who’ve had wedding pictures taken, school children who went on field trips to marvel at plants, fish and turtles and those of us wanting a taste of the Caribbean during Wicked Winnipeg winters will have to wait until 2020. Canada’s Diversity Gardens will open then when Winnipeggers, Manitobans and visitors from around the world will return to enjoy a new Tropical Paradise that’s summer all year long !Remember , doors close on Monday. https://www.assiniboinepark.ca/park-landing/home/explore/conservatory
