The BEST Commercials from the Super Bowl
The Super Bowl was yesterday and the commercials are always a big part of it. Companies spend MILLIONS of dollars on these things, and for the first time, we were able to watch them in Canada during the game.
If you missed them, here are the ones that people are talking about.
Budweiser had plenty of ads in the Super Bowl, and one that everyone is talking about was the return of Bud Light late-1980s mascot Spuds MacKenzie
A lot of companies went political with their ads, Budweiser says that this ad was not created with political intent – but the parallels between today’s politics and the message in the ad are certainly evident.
84 Lumbar didn’t bother pretending their ad wasn’t political. In fact the original version of their commercial wasn’t approved because it was “too political”. In the original, a Mexican mother and daughter, on their way to the US, come across a border wall – just like the one to be built by Trump. But after they were told they couldn’t air that the wall was replaced by a barbed-wire fence.
Mercedes-Benz decided to do an Easy Rider spoof for their commercial and even got the Cohen Brothers to direct it.
National Geographic ponied up for their first ever Super Bowl ad, and decided to go with Geoffrey Rush playing Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance on the violin – and it’s great.
Justin Bieber was showing off his “Unlimited Moves” in an ad for T-Mobil
Justin Timberlake and Christopher Walken introduced us to the new beverage Bai with an assist to Justin’s NSYNC hit BYE, BYE, BYE.
And Website company Wix.com used Jason Stathom and Gal Gadot in their ad
This Mr. Clean ad was released in the week leading up to the Super Bowl, but if you missed it, here it is.
You may have also seen this super creative Honda spot last week.
Those are just a few of the ads. Did you have a favourite?
